Trinity: Exaggeration of Diversity -> Rejection of Equality

The orthodox doctrine of the Trinity strongly emphasizes the fact that the three Persons of the Godhead are equal in power and authority. Otherwise, there is a natural tendency to place the Persons in a ranking that breaks equality. As soon as that happens, theology moves toward monism, with the "supreme commander" on top, and the subservients reduced to less significant beings and then to nothing but dim images of the "real" God. See the objections to monism in the introduction and elsewhere in this set of documents.
