A River Runs Through It ...In a short walk around the Tilden Woods Community, you can find a creek (Old Farm Creek) that runs clear and provides a home for many non-human residents. When these pictures were taken in the early Spring, we saw wood ducks, mallards, and logs chewed by beavers. We know there are raccoons, opossums, ground hogs, rabbits, deer, and red foxes (I know about one fox -- he ate my cat).
Tilden Woods, although it is a close-in residential area in the Washington DC suburbs, provides habitat for numerous birds and animals, because of the maturity of its woods and the availability of water. Indeed, a portion of the region is wetlands. (You can't see him, but there is a wood duck in the center of this picture:)
Many Tilden Woods residents take regular walks around the neighborhood, enjoying the landscaping and the natural areas. Join them!
